Oakwood City Council recognized a member of the city police force at their meeting Monday night.

Cpl. Jason Crowder arrived on the scene of a house fire last month and discovered a wheelchair bound person was trapped in the home. He ran in to the home and was able to retrieve the person before fire crews arrived.

City Clerk Tangee Puckett read a proclamation to start the city council meeting, detailing Cpl. Crowder's actions that day and the council thanked him.

Mayor Lamar Scroggs presented a framed copy of the proclamation to him as well.
