(VIDEO) Gainesville completes tough sweep of Lanier, sets sights on Dacula

GAINESVILLE — Gainesville ran its win streak to six after taking a 6-1 victory over Laneir Thursday at Ivey-Watson Field.

The win also completed the sweep for the Red Elephants (16-6, 6-2 Region 8-AAAAAA) over Lanier (5-17, 1-8) which included a pair of one-run victories on Tuesday.

On Thursday, the Red Elephants jumped on the Longhorns quickly with a pair of runs in the first for a 2-0 lead. Lanier trimmed it to 2-1 with a run in the third. But Gainesville answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning and added a run in the sixth to pull away.

Gainesville next will open a series against Dacula (15-7, 5-3) on Monday at Ivey-Watson in what will be for second place in the region. The two teams will head to Dacula on Wednesday and return to Ivey-Watson on Friday.
