Charges were filed this week against a driver involved in a fatal two-vehicle accident in Lula earlier this year, authorities said.

Jerry Dwayne McKee, 18, was booked into the Hall County Jail Wednesday in connection with the January 19 crash on Ga. 365 northbound at Athens Street.

"The investigating trooper did obtain warrants on Monday the 27th for failure to yield after stopping at a stop sign and 2nd degree vehicular homicide," Georgia State Patrol Cpl. Auston Allen wrote in an email.

MaryEllen Maznicki, 64, of Lakemont died when she was ejected as her Jeep Grand Cherokee overturned during the afternoon collision .

The charges are misdemeanors and will be under the jurisdiction of the State Court of Hall County, Hall County District Attorney Lee Darragh confirmed.

The day after the crash, Georgia State Patrol Sgt. Anthony Coleman said McKee was trying to get on 365 from Athens Street and allegedly failed to yield.  His car hit Maznicki's Jeep.

McKee, who was 17 at the time, and his passenger were not injured.

In January, Coleman said the investigation would be conducted by the Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team.

McKee was not listed on the Thursday evening online jail roster.
