Tennis: Branch boys advance to 2nd round in AAAAA

FLOWERY BRANCH -- The Flowery Branch boys tennis team advanced to the second round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs after quickly dispatching Tucker 3-0 Wednesday at at the Davis Middle School courts.

The match lasted than one hour and the Falcons dropped just two total games.

Beau Millwood whipped Ummar Jamal 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and Watson Lewis beat Ryan Strickland 6-0, 6-1 at No. 2 singles. The No. 1 doubles team of Taylor Fiorella and Clay King took a 6-0, 6-0 victory to clinch the match.

The Falcons are the top seed from Region 8-AAAAA. Tucker was the fourth seed out of Region 6-AAAAA.

Flowery Branch next will take on the North Paulding-Cambridge winner next week in the second round.
