DUBLIN -- Chestatee will be well represented at the upcoming Class AAAA traditional state wrestling tournament next week.

The War Eagles pushed eight wrestlers through to next week's state meet in Macon at the Class AAAA East Sectionals at West Laurens High School. The top eight in each weight class advanced to the state meet.

Bartolo Velasquez finished second at 113-pounds while Christian Zapatero took third at 126. Jose Reyes-Levallee (106) and Tommy McCormack (160) each finished fourth.

Zach Cheshire was fifth at 132, Cody Humphries (170) and Grayson Entrekin (195) both finished sixth, and Austin Donaldson took seventh at 120.

The eight total to advance to the state meet is the most ever for Chestatee.

"It's great for the kids and for the program," Chestatee coach Carey Whitlow said. "We were hoping to get nine in but we're very happy with the way things turned out."

Johnson had two wrestlers advance to state. Junior jommy Luc finished seventh at 126 and senior Jose Martinez took eighth at 195.

Lumpkin County also competed at the Class AAAA East Sectionals, with Greg Hilliard winning the 113 class and Eddie Daniels (152) Tristin Duckworth (106) and Micah Mihok (120) each qualifying for state finals.
Chestatee's Tommy McCormack, right, takes on Lumpkin County's Andrew Davis in the area meet last week. McCormack was one of eight Chestatee wrestlers to advance to the state meet next week after Saturday's Class AAAA East Sectionals at Morgan County
