Wolves chew up Carver in battle of top two teams

BUFORD -- If there was any doubt about who is the best team in Class AA, No. 1 Buford put that to rest Friday night against No. 2 Carver-Columbus.

The Wolves held carver to just 39 total yards through the first three quarters while building a 35-0 en route to a 35-7 win at Tom Riden Stadium.

Buford (3-0) held Carver's Marquez Holloway to 100 yards for the game, but 88 came on the Tigers' only touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter.

For Buford, Andre Johnson scored three touchdowns and led the team in rushing with 76 yards. Nathan Staub finished with 48 yards on the ground and scored on his first two carries of the game, 46- and 1-yards.

The Wolves had 10 different players carry the ball in the game and finished with 204 yards rushing for the game. Carver finsihed with just 85 yards rushing for the game.

Buford next will play Yulee, Fla., on Friday in Buford. The game will be televised by ESPN.
