BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — No. 1 seed Georgia rallied from an early 6-0 deficit to beat No. 5 Florida, 8-7, scoring two runs in the bottom of the eighth to complete the comeback.

The win put the Bulldogs (45-12) into the tournament finals for the first time since 1989.

Trailing 7-6, Tre Phelps tied the game with a long sacrifice fly to right field scoring Kolby Branch, who reached on an error to lead off the inning. After Ryan doubled, he moved to third on Phelp's at-bat and would score the eventual game-winner on a line drive sacrifice fly to left by Daniel Jackson.

Justin Byrd closed out the win pitching a perfect final two innings.

Florida jumped out to the big 6-0 lead after plating five runs in the third, capped by a three-run home run to left from Caden McDonald. Georgia closed the gap to 6-3 in the fourth, with Branch and Black getting back-to-back RBI doubles. Jackson scored on a wild pitch in the fifth to pull the Bulldogs within 6-4.

The Gators got a huge insurance run in the seventh but Georgia answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to get within 7-6.

Georgia will play Arkansas, a 2-1 winner over Auburn in the other semifinal, in the championship game on Sunday. It's the first championship game appearance for the Hogs since 2021, when they won the title.
