Books-A-Million celebrated the opening of its new location in Gainesville Friday.

The store at The Village Shops on Pearl Nix Parkway comes after its Lakeshore Mall location closed earlier this year after over 20 years of operation.

The retailer began renovating the new location in May and launched a soft-opening for the store on Aug. 22.

“We are delighted to be introducing one of our ‘new model’ Books-A-Million stores to the Gainesville community,” CEO Terrance Finley, said in a release. “This marks another important step in our investment in Northern Georgia and across the greater Atlanta area, where we opened a new store in Peachtree City this spring and will be opening another in Sandy Springs later this year. With Gainesville, we’re proud to expand our presence and continue serving as America’s hometown bookstore.”

The Pearl Nix Parkway store features extended inventory and areas to sit and read. The Alabama-based retailer has 11 stores throughout the State of Georgia. The company has been in operation since 1917 with over 240 stores nationwide.
