A Clarkesville man was arrested after he reportedly led Habersham County Sheriff’s Office deputies on a high-speed chase Friday night.

A deputy assigned to HCSO’s Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic (H.E.A.T.) unit observed a Nissan Maxima  traveling more than 100 mph northbound on Ga. 365 near Mt. Zion Road outside Alto just after 10 p.m.

The deputy attempted to pull the vehicle over, the Nissan passed over vehicles on the right near Anderson Village and failed to stop for the deputy’s blue lights and siren, initiating the pursuit.

HCSO said the driver of the Nissan, identified as Zachary Bryan DeVincentis, 23,  continued to drive recklessly, turning left onto Duncan Bridge Road (Ga. 384), where he passed vehicles on double yellow lines with speeds  above 100 mph.

As the vehicle approached Pea Ridge Road on Ga. 384, the deputy was able to initiate a PIT maneuver to bring the chase to a stop. DeVincentis then jumped out of the vehicle, but was taken into custody.

DeVincentis was not injured in the chase, according to HCSO.  He was charged with the following:

The chase on Aug. 29, 2025 reportedly ended with deputies performing a PIT maneuver on the suspected vehicle.
