Roadway activity across Georgia was not ideal for all commuters during the Labor Day weekend.

Most recent numbers from Georgia's Department of Public Safety (DPS) indicate that more than 425 DUI arrests have been made across the state between Friday, August 29 and Monday, September 1.  During that same timeline, more than 700 distracted drivers have been stopped and cited, while nearly 1,100 commuters have been found to violate seatbelt requirements during their travels.

The updated post on social media by the Georgia DPS shows that there have been 15 fatalities reported from the more than 280 crashes across the state--incluidng two in Hall County on Sunday and one in Lumpkin County Monday morning--along with 151 injuries as of 11:59 p.m. on Monday, September 1.  Among the 284 total crashes reported by law enforcement agencies, 36 of those are allegedly with drivers under the unfluence of alcohol or drugs.

The Georgia Department of Public Safety website has additional information and details about travel numbers and safety tips for commuters.
