The City of Gainesville will observe Labor Day Monday, Sept. 1, resulting in unavailability of the following facilities and services:
All administrative offices, including at the:
- Gainesville Administration Building
- Gainesville Community and Economic Development Building
- Roy Franklin Hooper Jr. Public Safety Building (Gainesville Police Department + Gainesville Fire Department)
- Gainesville Water Resources Building (Queen City Parkway)
- Gainesville Civic Center (Gainesville Parks & Recreation), etc. (Frances Meadows Aquatic Center will be open)
Gainesville-Hall County Community Service Center, including:
- Meals on Wheels
- Senior Life Center
Transportation, including:
- WeGo
Garbage and Recycling
- Solid waste collection will be delayed by one day for all City customers as no garbage or recycling will be picked up Monday, Sept. 1. Monday customers’ garbage will be collected Tuesday, Tuesday customers’ garbage will be collected Wednesday, Wednesday customers’ garbage will be collected Thursday, and Thursday customers’ garbage will be collected Friday. Please be sure to set your garbage and recycling at the curb by no later than 6:30 a.m. to ensure collection.
The City will return to business as usual Tuesday, Sept. 2.
