Two men from Decatur were arrested after allegedly stealing a car during a meetup for an online transaction in Gainesville on Monday morning.

The Gainesville Police Department issued a statement Tuesday afternoon saying the incident happened just before 10:40 a.m. Monday in the area of Lakeshore Mall off of Pearl Nix Parkway.

"The victim reported that he arranged to meet two individuals through Facebook Marketplace regarding the sale of his black Mercedes S550," the statement from Gainesville Police said. "During a test drive, the suspects brandished firearms and demanded the victim's phone and wallet before fleeing in the stolen vehicle."

Gainesville Police were reportedly able to find the location of the stolen car using a vehicle tracking app and found it was headed southbound on Interstate 985.

"The Suwanee Police Department intercepted the vehicle and initiated a pusuit, eventually using a PIT maneuver to bring the chase to an end," Gainesville Police said. "Both suspects were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit."

The suspects, Jalil Burnett, age 37, and Christopher Denard Wright, age 49, were both charged with armed robbery and hijacking a motor vehicle. Both are being held in the Hall County Jail wihtout bond as of Tuesday afternoon.
