A Banks County school bus driver has been cited after an accident between a bus and a motorcycle Tuesday morning that left the motorcycle driver seriously injured.
The Georgia State Patrol said the crash happened just before 7:00 a.m. on Ga. 59 just south of Sims Bridge Road/Ga. 164 in the eastern part of the county. Officials said the motorcycle was headed south on Ga. 59 while the bus was pulling out of a driveway.
"The bus began turning left onto SR 59 and entered the southbound lane in front of the motorcycle," the report from the state patrol said. "The motorcycle then struck the left side of the school bus."
The motorcycle driver was seriously injured and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The driver of the bus was reportedly cited for failure to yield.
The Banks County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Tuesday morning that no students were on board the bus at the time.
Neither driver's name has been released as of Tuesday afternoon.
The crash remains under investigation. There was no report of any injuries to anyone on board the school bus.
