Two people were arrested Friday in Forsyth County amid an investigation into counterfeit merchandise and trademark infringements.

A social media post by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office Friday afternoon said investigators executed search warrants at various locations across the county, including a retail location in the Cumming City Center. The searches reportedly yielded more than $1 million worth of counterfeit merchandise.

"Trademark infringement is not a victimless crime. It harms consumers who believe they are purchasing legitimate products, it damages reputable businesses and manufacturers, and it contributes to larger global issues such as child labor," Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman said.

The names of those arrested and specifics on the counterfeit merchandise seized were not made public as of Saturday morning. Authorities said the investigation into the crimes is still ongoing.
