Hall County authorities are asking the public to help them find the suspect in a car theft case out of Flowery Branch.
The Hall County Sheriff's Office issued a statement Thursday morning, saying that the vehicle was stolen from a home in the Compass Pointe neighborhood off of Wade Orr Road on the evening of Saturday, July 26.
"The suspect arrived at the seller's residence on Magnetic Point to look at the vehicle. The victim took the suspect, who was wearing a black shirt and a red Atlanta Hawks hat, on two test drives in the car," the release from the sheriff's office said. "When they arrived back at the victim's home the final time, both men exited the car. As soon as the victim closed his door, the suspect jumped back into the driver's seat and drove away."
The vehicle in question was a black 2021 Dodge Challenger Hellcat. Authorities said the tag number on the vehicle was CDQ3950 and it may have a scratch down the passenger's side.
The owner of the car reportedly pursued the suspect for a time before losing sight of the vehicle on Spout Springs Road in the area of Capitola Farm Road.
Anyone with information on the suspect or location of the vehicle is asked to contact Hall County Sheriff's Office investigators by calling 770-297-4550.
