An employee of a Gainesville daycare was charged with cruelty to children in the second degree after a 1-year-old child was allegedly injured at the center.

The Gainesville Police Department said Abigail Arriga-Arriga was charged after police met with the mother of the child, who told authorities her son received a long linear vertical fracture to his left forearm on Monday at Joyland Daycare.

GPD said Arriaga-Arriaga was charged due to "negligence" in the case. She is accused of not seeking medical attention or notifying anyone of the injury despite acting as the child's caregiver at the time of the alleged injury.

AccessWDUN contacted the daycare for comment, but has not received a response as of Wednesday afternoon.
Abigail Arriga-Arriga was an employee of Joyland Daycare at the time of the alleged injury sustained by a 1-year-old boy in her care.
