Officials in Banks County confirmed that an alert activated at the Banks County Primary School Wednesday morning was a false alarm.
According to a release from the Banks County Sheriff's Office, the alarm was activated as a part of the school’s safety protocol after two individuals were seen walking on the grounds of the property on Ga. 52 in Homer.
An investigation determined the two people were using the school grounds to walk through after leaving the Banks County Library. Investigators determined that the individuals posed no threat to the students, staff or the community.
“The Banks County Sheriff’s Office and Banks County Schools take every alert and report seriously,” a statement from BCSO said. “The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we will always respond swiftly to ensure their protection.”
