Investigators for White County and the City of Cleveland's Fire Departments are looking for leads behind what exactly triggered a strutcture fire at a local home Tuesday evening.
A release from White County's Public Safety Department says that the County's Fire and EMS Services worked with Cleveland Fire Department and White County Sheriff's Office in responding to a residential structure fire call at around 8:00 p.m. along Bonnie Pearl Lane.
A caller to the White County 911 Center reported visible flames in the bathroom area of the residence, and the home had begun filling with smoke. All occupants and their pets safely evacuated prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.
Fire crews observed light smoke showing from the single-family residence upon arrival. Firefighters made entry and quickly extinguished the blaze, which was primarily contained to a bathroom area, preventing the fire from spreading further throughout the home.
One occupant was evaluated on scene by White County EMS but declined transport. White County officials says fire personnel remained on scene to check for hot spots and ensure the fire had not extended to other areas of the structure for about one hour.
