Two people were arrested in Towns County on drug charges following a two-week investigation.

According to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), they made a traffic stop on Wednesday on Berrong Street in Hiawassee.

During that stop, they found “an amount” of methamphetamine in the vehicle which field-tested positive.

42-year-old Anna Marie Adams of Hiawassee was arrested and charged with felony possession of meth with intent to distribute, felony possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, felony crossing guard lines, improper display of license plate, and unsafe vehicle.

59-year-old Maurice Sanchez of Young Harris was arrested and charged with felony possession of meth with intent to distribute, felony possession of meth, possession of drug-related objects, and open container.

As of last report, Sanchez is still listed in the Towns County inmate listing with a bond of $15,000. Adams is no longer listed, which usually indicates a release on bond.
