A 20-year-old Jefferson man has been arrested after he allegedly severely burned his infant son.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), Logan Wayne Hart was arrested on Tuesday in Barrow County and transported to the Hall County Jail on a single felony count of child cruelty in the first degree.

The investigation determined that the baby suffered burn injuries to his foot on June 27 while in Hart’s care in Flowery Branch. The burns on the child were consistent with the foot being submerged in boiling liquid according to officials.

The baby also reportedly had a burn on his hand that is believed to have occurred on the same day.

HCSO opened the case after the Georgia Division of Family and Child Services (DFCS) contacted them in reference to the burns.

Hart remains in the Hall County Jail without bond and the investigation is ongoing.
