A Flowery Branch man was arrested Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly resisted arrest during a traffic stop on Winder Highway near Chestnut Drive.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said Derick Shannon Allison, 49, was pulled over just after 4 p.m. after a deputy noticed the registered owner of the vehicle had an active arrest warrant.
The deputy talked to Allison, and his driver's license confirmed he was the wanted individual. The deputy informed Allison he was under arrest and asked him to exit the vehicle.
Allison allegedly resisted arrest by refusing to follow the deputy’s orders to place his hands behind his back.
As the incident escalated, the deputy tased Allison, which was ineffective, and then called for backup. Allison allegedly tried to take the taser from the deputy.
Another deputy arrived and deployed his taser as Allison continued to resist arrest. The second taser was successful and Allison was arrested.
Allison was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center before being taken to the Hall County Jail.
Allison was charged with two counts of obstruction of an officer, attempted removal of a weapon from a public official and possession of methamphetamine.
His bench warrant was for failure to appear for charges of DUI and following too closely.
Officers from the Oakwood Police Department assisted in the arrest.
