A commercial building in Lula was destroyed, and a firefighter was taken to a local hospital for heat exhaustion after a commercial building fire on Monday.

Banks County Fire and Emergency Services said units responded at around 4:38 p.m. to 733 Mount Sinai Road, where they found a storage building, materials and vehicles engulfed in flames.

The 25,000 square foot building was declared a total loss, and several vehicles were damaged.

The firefighter was taken to Northeast Georgia Hospital after suffering from heat exhaustion and was listed in stable condition and released from the hospital the next day. Another firefighter was treated by EMS for heat-related illnesses and released on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Banks County Fire Department, but it appears to be accidental.
