McKibbon Hospitality, an award-winning leader in hotel management, is proud to announce that Wayne Cannon has been recognized by Marriott International with the prestigious Diamond General Manager and Courtyard General Manager of the Year awards. Cannon, who serves as General Manager of Courtyard Gainesville GA, was presented with the awards during Marriott’s Select Brands General Managers Conference in Nashville, Tennessee earlier this month.
The Diamond General Manager designation is awarded to top-performing leaders who demonstrate achievement in operational excellence and hospitality leadership excellence. One of just four general managers across the globe to receive this award, Cannon was also selected from the pool of Diamond General Managers as the Courtyard brand’s overall General Manager of the Year for North America.

Cannon has been an instrumental part of McKibbon’s on-property operational team since 2014. Prior to his appointment as Opening General Manager of Courtyard Gainesville GA in 2023, he served on the company’s corporate team as operations support manager, deployed to properties throughout the southeast in transitional phases and undergoing renovations to provide leadership, coaching and operational oversight.
Over the course of his lauded 30-plus-year hospitality career, Cannon has managed hotels under several brand flags in Georgia, leading Courtyard properties in Athens and Tifton; The Glenn Hotel, an Autograph Collection by Marriott in Atlanta; and several Holiday Inn Express, Hilton Garden Inn and Hyatt Place properties across the Southeast.
As general manager, Cannon is responsible for overseeing all facets of operations pertaining to the 6-floor, 130-room Courtyard by Marriott Gainesville GA which is owned by Capstone Property Group, LLC and managed by McKibbon Hospitality.
