UPDATE:

The Rabun County Sheriff's Office reported the teen was found safe on Wednesday afternoon.

Original Story:

Rabun County Sheriff's Office and area volunteers are actively searching for a missing local boy, last seen with a camping group Tuesday night.

Authorities are asking for the public's assistance in locating 15-year old Fender Dixon.  Sheriff's Office Deputy Chief Mike Pierson told AccessWDUN Wednesday morning that young Fender was with the Blue Ridge Theraputic Wilderness Program when he went missing at about 8:50 p.m. at around the deep wooded Hale Ridge area in Rabun County near Warwoman.  The group often goes out in wooded trail areas together.

Pierson said Dixon was last seen wearing a protective black rain gear with dark pants and possibly an orange shirt while with the group.   Dixon is described as a white male, 5 feet 4 inches tall, weighing about 125 pounds with hazel eyes and brown hair.

Rabun County deputies are working with area search volunteer groups, and are asking the Georgia State Patrol's resources to aid. Anyone with further leads is asked to contact the Rabun County Sheriff's Office's 9-1-1 Center.
