Gwinnett County authorities arrest suspect in Norcross burglary

Update as of Wednesday, July 2, 2025: 

The Gwinnett County Police department has identified and arrested the suspect in a Norcross burglary case from May 29. 
 
GCPD  detectives arrested Juan Carlos Villegas Avalos, 23, of Lilburn on Tuesday. 
 
Avalos is accused of entering  the mailroom of the Darnell Apartments in unincorporated Norcross and stealing multiple packages from residents. He also  allegedly entered the fitness center and attempted to steal a television.
 
The suspect was charged with three felony counts of entering an auto with intent to commit theft and one felony count of burglary in the second degree.

The Gwinnett County Police Department has asked the public for help in identifying a suspect accused of stealing from a mailroom and gym in Norcross.

The police department provided pictures of the male suspect who entered the mailroom of the Darnell Apartments at 4270 Phil Niekro Parkway.

The suspect allegedly stole multiple packages and tried stealing a television from the gym.

The suspect is reportedly a Hispanic male with short black hair and a medium build. He has multiple tattoos and was last seen wearing a blue tracksuit with red stripes along the sleeves.

GCPD officials initially began the search for the suspect in early June 2025.
