Heat Advisory in effect for North Georgia through Wednesday night

Much of North Georgia, including parts of the northeast area, will be under a Heat Advisory from the National Weather Service today as sweltering heat continues to blanket much of the nation today.

A Heat Advisory has been issued for most of north Georgia and Central Georgia from 1PM Tuesday through 8PM Wednesday. Temperatures during this time period will be potentially hazardous for outdoor activities, vulnerable populations, and pets. Precautions should be taken to avoid heat related illnesses. Strong thunderstorms with potentially damaging winds may bring the heat to an end by Wednesday evening. Any weather sensitive events on Wednesday should be prepared for possible storm impacts.

Banks, Barrow, Dawson, Forsyth, Gilmer, Jackson, Lumpkin, Hall and Stephens Counties are included in the Heat Advisory.  Counties such as Fannin, Habersham, Rabun, Towns, Union and White Counties are not officially included on the Advisory, but residents are still suggested to similary beware of the hot conditions.

High temperatures of 95 to 100 degrees and heat Indices of 105 to 107 degrees are expected in the region Tuesday.  The National Weather Service has listed details behind what is entailed with the Heat Advisory:
