Republic Services’ local union will hold a practice picket Tuesday morning in Cumming.
According to a press release from the Teamsters Local 728 union, they are going to meet outside of Republic Services at 5:15 a.m.
This is part of a wider effort by Republic Teamsters as they demand a new contract with raises, better benefits, and stronger work rules.
Practice pickets are also planned in California, Indiana, Washington, and Canada according to the union.
This action comes right after a practice picket was held in Boston earlier this month.
In a statement, they said that they are “fully prepared to strike if the company fails to reach a fair agreement.”
Republic Services is responsible for waste disposal for much of northeast Georgia and nationwide.
