The Forsyth County Board of Commissioners recognized a local student for his accomplishments within the Boys Scouts of America and for supporting the community through extensive community service at its June 19 meeting.
Eli Murphy is a rising junior at the Alliance Academy for Innovation. A member of Troop 513 for the Northeast Georgia Council, Murphy recently earned the ‘Eagle Scout’ award, the highest ranking within the organization.
To obtain the honor, Murphy completed his Eagle Project which consisted of building a garden along a fence line for Spectrum Autism Support in Duluth. The garden includes a variety of plants, creating a visually appealing and calming environment for those served by the organization.
Murphy reportedly dedicated over 33 hours of his own time to the project and led 24 volunteers who assisted with the project. Together, the group provided over 179 volunteer hours to the project.
