Trey McPhaul, a business owner and community advocate, has announced his candidacy for the Gainesville City School Board for District 2.

A press release from McPhaul said he brings years of community service and leadership to the campaign. McPhaul plans to focus on supporting students, empowering educators and engaging families.

“I believe deeply in the power of education to shape lives and strengthen our community,” McPhaul said. “I’m eager to serve in a way that supports students, families, and educators across our district.”

McPhaul is also a father, husband and youth coach.

As a school board member, McPhaul said he plans to prioritize equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities, teacher support and retention, safe and inclusive school environments and transparent communication and community engagement.

“I’m committed to ensuring that every student has access to high-quality learning opportunities, well-supported teachers, and a school environment where they feel seen, valued, and able to thrive,” McPhaul added.

McPhaul encourages community members to join his campaign, share their ideas and work together to improve the future of Gainesville schools.
