A Flowery Branch man is facing charges after authorities cited him in a wreck that injured him and another person early Wednesday morning near the Hall-Forsyth county line.
Hall County Sheriff's Office officials said the wreck happened just after 5:30 a.m. Wednesday on Dawsonville Highway at the Bolling Bridge over Lake Lanier. They said Dakota James Coggins, age 27 of Flowery Branch, was headed from the Forsyth County side of the bridge into Hall County when the wreck happened.
"(Coggins) crossed over the double yellow center line in an attempt to pass a vehicle," the sheriff's office said. "In the process, Mr. Coggins struck a vehicle traveling in the northbound lane of Dawsonville Highway."
Authorities said Coggins' vehicle then overturned and caught fire, ejecting him. He suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the vehicle Coggins hit, Emily Williams, age 44 of Cumming, suffered minor injuries. Both Coggins and Williams were taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville for treatment.
Coggins faces a list of charges including passing in a no passing zone, driving on the wrong side of the road and driving without a license.
