The Gateway Amateur Radio Club of Cleveland, Georgia will host its annual Field Day later this month.
The club will host the event on Saturday, June 28 at the NoFo Brewery property on Helen Highway just north of Cleveland. The event is scheduled to last from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Secretary of the club, Robert Sullivan, said the field day offers the chance for amateur radio operators to hone their skills.
"More than 700,000 amateur radio operators in the U.S. are licensed by the FCC to operate personal radio stations," Sullivan said. "In times of natural disaster and emergencies, they can often transfer critical communications when other systems, such as cell phones, first responder radios, and other systems, fail."
More information on the club can be found on its website.
