A man had to be rescued from a well on Sunday in Habersham County.
According to officials, they received a call from the man’s girlfriend at around 6:30 p.m. that he fell through the floor of an unoccupied home in the northern part of the county.
Units from Habersham, Rabun, and Hall Counties arrived at the scene. Gainesville Fire also showed up with a Georgia Search and Rescue truck.
Crews were on scene for roughly three hours to get the man out of the 75-foot well. Once they reached him, it took roughly 30-minutes to extract him safely.
The man was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Gainesville with non-life-threatening injuries. No emergency responders were injured.
“We are incredibly grateful to the assisting agencies for their support,” Habersham County Fire Chief Jason Davey said. “We could not have performed a safe rescue without the help of all the partner agencies who responded. It’s a testament to the strength and unity of our neighboring communities.”
