RALEIGH, N.C. — Spencer Ralston had a hot start to the UNC Health Championship at Raleigh Country Club on Thursday.
The Gainesville native birdied the opening hole of the Korn Ferry Tour event but unfortunately that was one of just a few highlights on the day.
Starting at the 10th hole, Ralston followed that with a bogey at the Par 4 11th and a double-bogey at the Par 5 12th en route to what would turn out to be a 1-over finish. He did bridie Nos. 13 and 15 to pull to even-par.
But he could not find any more on the afternoon. Ralston parred eight straight holes before bogeying the 6th and closed out the day with three more pars for a 71 on the Par 70 course and into a tie for 113th.
Ralston will tee-off at 8:40 a.m. on Friday trying to play himself into the weekend field.
