Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office and Fire crews in Habersham County are looking for more details behind what led to a holiday weekend fire at a Cornelia chicken processing warehouse.

Habersham County Public Safety spokesperson Ashlyn Brady tells Access WDUN that the Cornelia Fire department took the lead on coverage of teh fire called into authorities after 10:35 p.m. on Sunday, May 25th. They arrived to see flames from a central point within the Fieldale Farms plant.

Habersham County Emergency Services, Cornelia Fire, Demorest Fire, Baldwin Fire, and Lee Arrendale State Prison also responded to the incident, according to Brady. Georgia Power also sent crews out to the scene within a short time of the initial call.

Crews were able to contain and douse the fire within a few hours, with no injuries reported, as officials said there was no one working during the Sunday overnight hours.

The cause for the fire is under investigation, as of last publication.
