The Boys and Girls Clubs of Lanier unveiled a new playground at the Tim Lee Boys and Girls Club on Monday, which was made possible through the support of the Atlanta Braves Foundation and Gas South.
The upgraded playground will provide kids at the Habersham County location with a “modern, safe, and enriching environment” according to the club.
“Children learn a lot through play, which contributes greatly to academic success,” Stephany Small, Habersham County Area Director of The Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier, said. “Having this new and safe space, with updated playground equipment for our children has been a huge priority for us.”
The ceremony featured remarks and a ribbon cutting to commemorate the opening of the playground, and celebrations continued as guests and kids explored the new play area with a visit from Braves’ mascot Blooper.
The Atlanta Braves Foundation builds community through baseball, reaching vulnerable populations, and improving the well-being of communities through access to sport, health, and educational programs.
With six locations in Habersham County, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Lanier served nearly 550 youth in 2024.
