TOCCOA, Ga. — Stephens County did not have to look far to find its next head coach.
The Indians announced on Thursday that defensive coordinator Thomas Flowers has been promoted to head coach. Flowers was unanimously approved by the Stephens County Board of Education following an executive session on Thursday.
Flowers takes over for Wesley Tankersley, who left after seven seasons to take the head coaching job at Fitzgerald earlier this week.
Flowers was the defensive coordinator under Tankersley the past five seasons.
Indians' fans will not have to wait long to see Flowers and his new staff in action. Stephens County will scrimmage North Hall on Friday night at The Reservation.
