The Northeast Georgia History Center is opening an invite to families and history enthusiasts for a fun Family Day event on Saturday, May 17.

The event entitled, “Adventures in Falconry," will run from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. The Northeast Georgia History Center's website notes that guests will have the unique opportunity to explore the ancient and noble sport of falconry in partnership with Georgia Mountain Falconry.

The educational event offers attendees of all ages a rare, up-close look at birds of prey, including hawks, owls, falcons, and even a Golden Eagle. Experts from Georgia Mountain Falconry will guide guests through the history, techniques, training, and care involved in falconry. Visitors will gain a deeper understanding of the bond between falconer and bird, and how this sport has evolved over centuries.

The website post adds that in addition to the falconry presentation, guests are encouraged to explore the History Center’s exhibit halls and tour the historic White Path Cabin.

Admission is $8.00 for adults, $5 for children ages 6-10, free for children 5 and under and to History Center members. You can go to the Northeast Georgia History Center's website for online registration in advance of next weekend's event.
