BUFORD, Ga. — The top-ranked Buford girls soccer team removed another obstacle in its way to the Class 6A championship on Thursday.
The Lady Wolves (21-0) avenged last season's Class 7A title game loss to West Forsyth (19-2) with a 1-0 win at home to advance to the Class 6A state championship.
Buford scored with 9:47 left in the first half when Kaylen Brown headed the ball over to Sabrie Vargas, who then powered past the West Forsyth goalkeeper for the lead.
The last time the two teams met, the Lady Wolverines survived a 7-6 penalty kick round to beat Buford 2-1 in last year's title match.
