Two Gainesville residents arrested in Towns County for methamphetamine possession

A Gainesville man and woman were arrested on Tuesday after a traffic stop on Highway 66 in Towns County.

The Towns County Sheriff’s Office said Emily Joanne Smith, 32, and Enoch Franklin Smith, 39, were allegedly found in possession of methamphetamine and marijuana during the stop.

A joint investigation by TCSO and Clay County Drug Investigators led to the traffic stop and search of the vehicle.

Deputies discovered active warrants on both suspects out of Clay County, NC, for theft of a motor vehicle. Enoch also has warrants out of Hall County.

Emily was charged with possession of methamphetamine, use of a firearm by a convicted felon during the commission of a crime,  possession of a firearm or knife during the commission of or attempt to commit a certain crime and possession of marijuana, less than 1 oz. 

Enoch was charged with possession of methamphetamine and giving a false name, address, or birthdate to law enforcement officer.

They are both being held in the Towns County Jail with holds for Clay County and Hall County.

Enoch Franklin Smith, 39, and Emily Joanne Smith, 32, both of Gainesville.
