The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) reports that on Saturday they had roadblocks along with Georgia State Patrol (GSP) at multiple points in the county that culminated in 13 arrests before the storms arrived.
The safety checkpoints were along State Route 330 at Tallassee Road in the southern part of the county near U.S. 129, SR 98 close to the Madison County line near Commerce, and SR 334 at Sanford Road according to Sheriff Kevin McCook.
McCook did add he was not sure if deputies made it to the last stop on SR 334 due to storms coming in.
The sheriff’s office reported multiple DUI, drug, suspended license, and outstanding warrant offenses being charged along with 21 warnings issued.
According to Jackson County inmate records, there were five DUI arrests during the stops along with three drug-related arrests.
There were also three people arrested with a hold for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
“We seek to protect the innocent motoring public,” JCSO said in a Facebook post. “Thank you to our deputies and citizens who strive to do good things every day to make this county safer.”
