Jefferson, which has been ranked No. 1 in Class 3A in the Scorbord.com poll off-and-on most of the season, looked dominating in its opening round match last week and will once again headline Thursday's second round of the Georgia High School Association playoffs.
The Lady Dragons (14-3) are the overall No. 1 seed in Class 3A and take on another ranked and northeast Georgia area team, playing host to Lumpkin County (12-3) at Memorial Stadium. That will be part of a doubleheader as the Jefferson boys will entertain SE Bulloch in another second round matchup following the girls match.
Also in Class 3A, Dawson County (No. 8 seed) has Richmond Academy coming to Tiger Stadium as the Lady Tigers (13-4) will try to continue their remarkable one-year turnaround.. And No. 13 seed Cherokee Bluff, which has won 9 of its last 10 games, travels to No. 4 seed NW Whitfield.
In Class 2A, No. 8 seed and ninth-ranked East Jackson (12-3) plays host to No. 9 seed and eighth-ranked Sonoraville )13-3) in what should be one of the better matchups of the night in Class 2A.
