Georgia Rivers and partners are hosting low-cost kayaking and water safety instruction classes before Memorial Day weekend.
Georgia leaders will host “Kayaking 101" instruction classes to kick off National Safe Boating Week starting May 17.
Citizens in Northeast Georgia can participate at the nearest location near Shady Grove Campground in Cumming. The classes will cost just $15 per person, including a free kayak rental for anyone who signs up for it at registration.
The classes are possible because of Georgia volunteers who are nationally certified with the American Canoe Association to give paddling and rescue training, and are supported by experienced safety teams.
