A Batesville man was arrested on Tuesday for charges stemming from a domestic incident that occurred on Saturday outside Clarkesville.
Rob Moore, with the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office, said Dusty Levi Allen, 36, had allegedly been on the run since the incident that took place on Saturday.
A member of the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office K9 Unit spotted Allen at around 5:30 p.m. walking on Raper Mountain Road.
“Deputy Sheriff Helcher and other deputies responded to the area Tuesday afternoon after receiving a report that Allen was walking in the area,” Moore said.
Helcher saw Allen walking on Raper Mountain Road toward Ga. 197 North and when he activated his lights Allen reportedly ran into the woods.
Moore said Helcher and K9 Bane pursued Allen into the woods, where Bane was ordered to capture Allen.
Allen had several outstanding warrants, including simple assault, simple battery under the Family Violence Act, aggravated assault by strangulation, criminal trespass and multiple failure to appear warrants from
The simple assault charge was from Mar. 30.
The simple battery, aggravated assault and criminal trespass under the Family Violence Act charges were related to the April 19 domestic incident in the Batesville community.
Allen is also being charged with obstruction of an officer.
Allen was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Habersham for medical treatment and then booked at the Habersham County Detention Center.
