OAKWOOD, Ga. — West Hall has found its next head football coach.

West Hall athletics director Trevor Catrett has hired Naji Lyon as the program's ninth head coach, pending approval by the Hall County Board of Education.

Lyon takes over for Krofton Montgomery, who stepped down earlier this month as head coach. The Spartans were 4-6 last season.

“When you are looking for a head football coach, Coach Lyon checks all the right boxes," Catrett said. "We are thrilled to welcome Coach Lyon to the Spartan community."

Lyon comes from Lumpkin County High School, where he served as the top assistant on head coach Heath Webb's staff. Lyon has spent 17 seasons on Webb's coaching staffs at Lumpkin, Gainesville and Winder-Barrow.

While at Lumpkin County, Lyon helped lead the Indians to three playoff appearances and five playoff games over the past three seasons.

“I’m so excited for this opportunity," Lyon said. "This is a goal that I’ve wanted for a long time, and I’ve been preparing for most of my career. I am looking forward to getting started, meeting everyone, and beginning a new era of Spartan football.”
