An Atlanta man is behind bars in Hall County after allegedly traveling there attempting to have sex with a minor.
A release from the Hall County Sheriff's Office Tuesday morning said Ali Rezaie Shahmirzadi, age 48, was arrested Monday morning at a location on Mundy Mill Road near Oakwood. Investigators said Shahmirzadi drove to the location to meet with someone he thought was a girl under the age of 16.
"Shahmirzadi had been having sexually explicit conversations with the individual on social media since Feb. 20," the sheriff's office's statement said. "He described sex acts he wanted to perform on the minor and sent pornographic images and videos."
Shahmirzadi is now facing 15 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, as well as one count of grooming a child for indecent purposes. As of Tuesday morning, he remained in the Hall County Jail without bond.
The Georgia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force assisted the Hall County Sheriff's Office in the investigation. That investigation is reportedly ongoing.
