An investigation is ongoing after a Forsyth County man was killed in a boating accident on Lake Lanier.

Georgia Department of Natural Resources spokesman Mark McKinnon said wardens responded to the incident on Lake Lanier near Three Sisters Island Monday afternoon.

McKinnon confirmed that the accident was a collision between two vessels on the lake. Forsyth County Deputies also responded to the area. FCSO Public Information Officer Stacie Miller said  a man was riding on a hydrofoil style board with a sail when he suddenly turned in front of a moving pontoon boat and was struck.

All involved in the collision were accounted for upon authorities' arrival, but the man on the hydrofoil board was killed in the accident.

The DNR Law Enforcement Critical Incident Reconstruction Team is investigating the crash.

No charges have been filed as of last report.
