An Alto woman has been charged in an investigation into alleged ongoing mistreatment of a child who was under her care.
The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said in a release that the Habersham County Sheriff's Office initiated a child cruelty investigation into Brooke Morgan Bestpitch, 24, last year. After their investigators determined abusive activities involving Bestpitch had happened at a Hall County residence, the case was turned over to HCSO’s Criminal Investigation Bureau in December.
An initial investigation reportedly found that Bestpitch had handed the victim, a toddler, a marijuana joint and allowed the boy to smoke from it. Bestpitch was arrested on Feb.6, 2025 and charged with reckless conduct. She was released from the Hall County Jail the following day on a $1,300 bond.
As the investigation continued, authorities obtained search warrants for Bestpitch’s cell phones and access to her snapchat account.
While searching the account, investigators found video and photo evidence of the victim hogtied with belts and yarn. They also discovered a video of the boy with a dog leash around his neck, which was being pulled by the suspect, constricting the child’s neck, HCSO said.
Using the new evidence, Bestpitch was arrested at her Alto home on April 11 on a charge of felony first-degree child cruelty. She posted a bond of $11,200 the next day and was released from the Hall County jail.
