The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) announced today that Gainesville recorded an unemployment rate of 3.1 percent in February, a three-tenths increase over-the-previous month. A year ago, the rate was 2.8 percent. With that said, GDOL officials also saw job growth continuing for the Gainesville area.
“Jobs are growing, and so is Georgia’s future," according to GDOL Interim Successor Louis DeBroux. He adds, "With regional job growth across Georgia in February and the state's unemployment rate holding steady at 3.6%—well below the national average—Georgia continues to prove itself as the #1 place where businesses and talent thrive."
The labor force decreased in Gainesville by 292 and ended the month with 108,588. That number went down by 367 when compared to February of 2024.
Gainesville finished the month with 105,228 employed residents. That number decreased by 602 over-the-month and was down by 720 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Gainesville ended February with 107,900 jobs. That number increased by 200 from January to February and rose by 800 when compared to this time last year.
