Friday could be another key night for northest Georgia area teams, with eight of 10 games scheduled involving region matchups.

There are more than a few key region showdowns, like the No. 1-ranked Buford girls (10-0, 3-0 Region 8-6A) traveling to unranked Mill Creek (6-2, 3-0 Region 8-6A) in a battle for first place.

Another monster showdown will take place at Memorial Stadium when Class 3A third-ranked Jefferson girls (8-2, 2-0 Region 8-3A) taking on sixth-ranked Oconee County (7-4, 2-0 Region 8-3A) for first place. Neither team has allowed a goal in region play so something will have to give.

On the boys side, Class 5A seventh-ranked Gainesville (9-2, 2-1 Region 7-5A) plays host to third-ranked Johns Creek (12-1, 3-1 Region 7-5A) in a battle for second place in Region 7-5A.

Class 3A ninth-ranked Jefferson (6-3, 2-0 Region 8-3A) plays host to second-ranked Oconee County (7-4, 2-0 Region 8-3A) at Memorial Stadium with first place on the line.
