A Towns County volunteer firefighter has been arrested for fraud.
According to the Towns County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), 55-year-old Jerry Wayne Canterbury of Hiawassee was being investigated by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) for theft.
During that investigation, evidence was found alleging that Canterbury falsified documents pertaining to the firefighter pension fund and committed computer forgery.
Canterbury was arrested on Monday and booked into the Towns County Sheriff’s Office on two counts of false statements or falsified records and one count of felony computer forgery.
